Design for Monitoring and Assessing Progress

A. Monitoring Student Progress

Classroom teachers, parents, students, and all staff members will be responsible to monitor students progress by:

  • Observing and recording students performance during daily cooperative activities

  • Collecting students work samples at the beginning and at the end of each semester during the school year

  • Implementing the Performance Based Education, PBE, objectives and recording students' outcomes in every lesson or unit implemented in the classroom

  • Working cooperatively with the School Assessment and Achievement Committees in completing and implementing the "skills continuum" and the "assessment tool"

  • Preparing students to take the CTBS exams in May

B. Assessing Student Progress

The Bancroft Elementary School will be using a variety of tools to determine and improve students' academic skills to meet the District of Columbia Public Schools standards and performance targets. In order to improve our students' skills we will be:

  • Implementing the new Performance Based Education

  • Implementing the MSTI

  • Offering an after school tutorial program for four days per week

  • Utilizing the new "skill continuum" tool and the new "assessment" tool prepared by our Assessment and Achievement Committees

  • Reviewing the CTBS scores and determining the areas our students need extra help

  • Implementing the school wide "READ READ LEER LEER" Program

The Assessment and Achievement Committees will meet periodically to follow up students' improvement.
